All Art Lovers, Artists at any Level of Experience – especially those with little or no art experience who would like to explore and develop their innate creativity in a relaxed, friendly and inspiring environment

Drawing and Sketching – Water Color Based Media Rendering Courses

The Studio began in Port Elizabeth in 2003 and was re created in Steytlerville in 2006

There are several Art in the Karoo experiences to choose from

·                                  Art weekends from Friday to Sunday afternoon at pre arranged dates throughout the year

• A 5 day drawing and painting holiday during the months from April to June and from August to October  each year

Included in the abovementioned courses is a serendipity Karoo experience which includes stargazing, introduction to Cheetah, a game drive and picnic to pleasure you with the thrill of sketching in the bush at a glorious picnic spot

·          Individual drawing and painting course also offered - by arrangement

All the Art Courses are under the personal tutorship of Elwyn Harlech- Jones

The Studio Karoo is housed in one of the first buildings established in the town and is situated one street away from the Main through road, at No. 26 High Street on the grounds of the luxurious Steytlerville Villa Guest House. The building once stables have been magnificently restored to incorporate a spacious Studio on the upper level – look across the Karoo landscape from the upper studio deck or patio whilst being creative

Art Weekend Programme:

Venue: Studio Karoo at the Steytlerville Villa Guest House

• Friday:   Arrive between: 14:00 to16:00hrs - (Cocktails served at 16:00hrs)

                    Session No.1     17:30hrs to 19:00hrs - Studio talk and introduction to the weekend – splash of                                                                                   colour

                                                19:30hrs - Dinner @ the Guest House

Thereafter relax and chat for the evening

• Saturday: Breakfast 07:30hrs

                    Session No.2     09:00hrs to 10:00hrs - Studio Talk / Sketching

                                                10:00hrs - Leave for game drive / meet the cheetahs at Morteaux Game Farm

                                                10:30hrs - Tea at Monteaux

                    Session No. 3    11:00hrs to 13:00hrs – Monteaux; Drive to Stonehouse and the dam sketching the                                                                            wonderful outdoors

                                                13:00hrs – Monteaux - Picnic lunch at dam

                                                14:30hrs – Return to Guest House to relax and freshen up

                    Session No.4     17:00hrs to 19:30hrs drawing and sketching in the Studio

                                                19:30hrs - Dinner @ the Guest House

Relax and enjoy the evening

• Sunday:                 Breakfast 08:00hrs

                    Session No.5     09:30hrs – 12:00hrs – drawing and colour exercise

                    Session No.6     12:00hrs – 12:30hrs – Critique of all the Art collectively produced

                                                13:00hrs – Lunch @ the Guest House

                                                Thereafter relax before the goodbyes and homeward bound
