The Eastern Cape boasts a wealth of flora and fauna, including the "Big 7" (elephants, lions, leopards, rhino, buffalo AND whales and Great White sharks) in a malaria-free environment. Conservation areas include National Parks - Mountain Zebra and the Addo Elephant and Provincial Nature Reserves Baviaanskloof, Great Fish River and their magnificent Wild Coast reserves - Dwesa, Hluleka, Silaka and Mkhambathi, to name but a few. The coastal waters are rich in marine life, and visitors are rewarded with sightings of abundant dolphin and the occasional whale spotted from the beaches.
